MAZE Grill- Gordon Ramsay

Last night the girls and I went off to Gordon Ramsay’s Maze grill for dinner for a treat, and what a treat it was!

After doing my usual search around for nice places to eat cheaply on nights out like this, I came across Top table which is a restaurant reviews site. The site is available in 14 countries (great for travelling!) and not only reviews but tells you all about good deals that are going on in the top restaurants!

This time I came across a fantastic early supper menu at the Maze Grill, which is inside the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square. You have to be sat down by 6.30pm for this menu so it’s perfect for going out after work, I was a bit worried we might be rushed out to turn the tables over but this wasn’t the case at all, we had a lovely leisurely meal.

We began the night in the Maze bar which is attached to the restaurant; the service was impeccable, taking our coats as we walked in, then having table service for our drinks so no need to wait at the bar. Be warned the drinks are pretty pricey with an average cocktail costing between £9- £13 each so you might want to nurse it for a while unless you’ve got money to burn!

We were then shown into the main restaurant which is a lot smaller than I had imagined but still very nice with bright decor. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere as I thought being a Gordon Ramsay restaurant it might be very posh and pretentious but was pleasantly surprised.

We were offered the choice of two menus, but all went for the early supper where you could have two courses for £18 or 3 courses for £21 which I thought was an absolute bargain considering where we were. I went all out and had the full three courses as I thought I probably wouldn’t go somewhere like this again for a while!

We were offered four flavours of bread to begin: sour dough, wheat, white or olive which went down a treat! Which was followed by French onion soup with Welsh rarebit to start which was delicious I would’ve been happy with just that for dinner! The rump steak was brought out on a wooden chopping board with the steak knife in a ‘well done’ wrapping which I thought was a nice touch. The steak was served with fries and salad on the side. Two of us had pudding, chocolate fondant which was to die for! Full of gooey chocolaty goodness! This was followed by the choice of soft centered peanut or white chocolate cookies which again were probably the best cookies I’ve ever tasted in my entire life!

I highly recommend Gordon’s Maze Grill for a little treat mid week (this menu is available Sun-Thurs), the full three courses and a drink cost me £30, with no need to go printing off any annoying vouchers. I think it was very reasonable for such a nice evening of fine dining with some of my favourite girls =)
