Marco Pierre White- Frankie’s

So last week I was searching the internet for somewhere for a friend and I to go on Friday night in central. Usually top table is perfect for these kinds of situations and I came across an absolute steal of an offer at Marco Pierre White and Frankie Detorri’s brain child, ‘Frankies’ in Knightsbridge (about 5min walk away from Harrods).

Frankie’s Knightsbridge is part of a chain of about 5 restaurants owned by the pair across London and it definitely wasn’t what we were expecting! Upon arriving at the door we were greeted by a dark staircase leading to a basement which looked like a bit of a seedy club where his Dad might go to! Haha.

After eventually getting inside and being shown to our table we looked around to see a room full of disco balls with a bar lounge and tables right at the back; I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this, we thought perhaps the tables might be pushed back at the end of the night to reveal a 70’s style underground disco!

The set menu was only £15 for three courses and the food was great, however it would’ve been nice to have the opportunity to look at the a la carte menu.  I had lentil soup (not a fan!) to start with then Spaghetti Bolognese which was really good, followed by a chocolate mousse to share which was presented very nicely in a martini glass. To wash all of this great food down, we ordered two bottles of the house red which was surprisingly good at just £15 per bottle.

Overall we had a very nice relaxed evening; however I don’t think I’d go back to this particular one as the service was very slow, the meal took about 3 hours and the whole place was a bit dated and dingey looking. Bit of a shame as I was looking forward to trying this one out a lot!
